Lattafa Eclaire 100ml eau de parfum bottle, a creamy milk and vanilla gourmand in the style of Giardini di Toscana Bianco Latte

Lattafa Eclaire Review: What the Caramel-Milk Dessert Perfume Really Smells Like

The short answer

Lattafa Eclaire smells like caramel stirred into warm milk, with a spoonful of honey and a soft vanilla-praline finish. It is one of the sweetest bottles Lattafa makes: no spice, no wood and no fresh notes to cut the sugar. At £19.99 for 100ml it is excellent value if you want a full-on dessert scent.

It is also divisive. Fragrantica reviewers split on performance, from a couple of hours on skin to all day and longer on clothing, and a minority dislike the sharp opening of a fresh bottle. Wear it in cool weather, keep it to one or two sprays, and skip it if very sweet gourmands have ever given you a headache.

Eclaire launched in 2024 and quickly became one of the most talked-about Lattafa bottles, helped along by its white-and-gold flacon and a very simple promise: dessert in a spray. On Fragrantica it holds 4.06 out of 5 from just under 10,000 votes (checked October 2026), which is a strong score for something this polarising.

We have already placed Eclaire in context against Angham, Khamrah and Atheeri in our Lattafa gourmand comparison. This post goes the other way: one fragrance, examined closely. What it actually smells like at each stage, how sweet it really is, what wearers report about staying power, and who should leave it on the shelf.

What Are the Lattafa Eclaire Notes?

Eclaire has a short, focused pyramid of eight notes. Both Fragrantica’s Eclaire listing and Lattafa USA’s official Eclaire page give exactly the same notes:

Top
Caramel · Milk · Sugar
Heart
Honey · White flowers
Base
Vanilla · Praline · Musk

Fragrantica’s voter-led main accords tell the same story: sweet at the top of the chart, followed by vanilla, caramel, lactonic (milky), powdery and honey. There is no citrus, no spice, no wood and no resin of note. Everything in this bottle pulls in one direction.

One small disagreement between the two sources: Fragrantica files Eclaire under women’s fragrances, while Lattafa USA lists it as unisex. In practice it is worn by anyone who likes very sweet scents, but most wearers will find it reads soft and feminine.

What Does Lattafa Eclaire Smell Like, Stage by Stage?

Opening
Caramel and sugar arrive first, with milk softening the edges straight away. Reviewers often describe it as sweet, creamy and confectionery-like. On a fresh bottle, many also mention a harsh, alcoholic burst in the first minutes, and a few describe a brief rubbery or burnt note before the caramel settles.
Heart
Honey brings a golden, slightly thicker sweetness and the white flowers add a faint floral softness underneath. Do not expect a floral perfume: the flowers are there to stop the sugar going completely flat, not to take over.
Dry-down
Vanilla and praline take over, with musk smoothing the finish into a creamy, slightly powdery skin scent. This is the stage most fans talk about: comforting, cosy and clingy on knitwear and scarves.

The overall impression is a caramel-milk dessert rather than a bakery or a sweet shop. It is less biscuity than a brioche-style scent and less fruity than candy perfumes. Some reviewers compare it to marzipan or cinnamon sugar; others describe a candle-like quality. Expect a sweet, milky gourmand and you will not be surprised.

How Sweet Is Lattafa Eclaire?

Very. This is the single most important thing to know before you buy. Most Fragrantica reviewers call it very sweet and creamy, and many warn it can turn cloying in warm weather or if you overspray. A few find it subtler than they expected, but they are the exception.

Where Eclaire sits on the sweetness scale (Royal Scents range)
Less sweet
Angham: ginger, pink pepper and lavender cut the praline
Sweet and spiced
Khamrah: dates and praline, balanced by cinnamon and woods
Full dessert
Eclaire: caramel, milk, honey and vanilla with nothing to cut them

If you love sweetness, that purity is the appeal: there is nothing herbal or spicy to argue with the caramel. If you like a gourmand with some contrast, you will probably prefer something in the first two columns. Coming from Burberry Goddess? Eclaire is the route for the vanilla without the lavender, as our Burberry Goddess alternatives guide explains.

How Long Does Lattafa Eclaire Last?

Lattafa does not publish longevity figures, and Fragrantica’s performance votes were not displayed for Eclaire when we checked in October 2026, so the honest answer comes from written reviews. They are genuinely split:

The strong camp

Some Fragrantica reviewers report strong sillage, around nine hours on skin, and scent lingering on clothes for days.

The weak camp

Others say it fades to a skin scent within one to two hours on them, even when it lasts much longer on fabric.

The maceration debate

Many say the harsh opening fades after a few weeks of resting the bottle; others say resting made little difference.

The pattern behind that spread is familiar with sweet, musky gourmands: they cling to clothing and hair far better than to some people’s skin. If you want to get the most from a bottle, spray once on skin and once on a scarf or jumper, and give a new bottle a few weeks before you judge it. Our guide to resting a new Lattafa bottle explains why sweet vanilla gourmands like Eclaire often open sharp and how long to leave them.

When Should You Wear Eclaire?

Eclaire is at its best in autumn and winter, and on cold spring evenings. Reviewers repeatedly flag heat as the thing that tips it from cosy into cloying, so we would not reach for it on a hot July afternoon.

  • Best: cold days, weekends, evenings in, dinners, date nights where a sweet scent fits.
  • With care: offices and shared spaces. One spray, ideally on clothing, is plenty.
  • Avoid: hot weather, the gym, and anywhere a sugary scent would feel out of place.

For more cold-weather options alongside Eclaire, see our best Lattafa perfumes for winter, or browse the Lattafa vanilla perfume range.

Can You Layer Eclaire?

Yes, and it works best with fragrances that share its praline, vanilla or musk. Paired with Angham, Eclaire adds caramel, milk and honey to Angham’s lavender and cocoa; we cover the combination in how to wear and layer Angham. Milky caramel such as Eclaire is also one of the pairings Fragrantica reviewers mention most for Khamrah, which you can read about in what to layer with Khamrah. Because Eclaire is already very sweet, keep it to one spray of each when you try a pairing.

What Do Reviewers Compare Eclaire To?

Giardini di Toscana’s Bianco Latte is the comparison Fragrantica reviewers make most often, with Rosie Jane’s Dulce and Alrehab’s Choco Musk also mentioned, though not every wearer finds the likeness close. We keep the full note-by-note comparison on our Eclaire 100ml listing, and our guide to how Lattafa bottles compare with designer originals explains what “dupe” usually means in practice.

What About Eclaire Pistache and Eclaire Banoffi?

Lattafa has since added two flankers. Both are real, separate fragrances, and neither is currently stocked at Royal Scents.

Eclaire Pistache (2025)

Notes: pistachio spread cream and pistachio; whipped cream, cacao and coconut; vanilla, milk and musk. Rating: 3.76/5 from about 1,200 votes. Reviewers describe it as more nutty and less vanilla-heavy than the original, though some find it shorter-lived.

Not stocked at Royal Scents. Eclaire Pistache on Fragrantica

Eclaire Banoffi (2025)

Notes: banana and dulce de leche; vanilla and whipped cream; biscuit, praline and musk. Rating: 3.83/5 from about 1,300 votes. Reviewers call it lighter and airier, with a banana opening that fades towards a vanilla-biscuit dry-down.

Not stocked at Royal Scents. Eclaire Banoffi on Fragrantica

Both flankers are rated lower on Fragrantica than the original Eclaire (checked October 2026). If you want the caramel-milk scent that made the name, the original is the one to buy.

Is Eclaire Too Sweet for You? Four Lattafas to Try Instead

These are the in-stock Lattafas we point people to when Eclaire is not quite right. Each shares at least part of its vanilla, praline, milky or musky base, so the jump is not a big one. For the wider range, browse our Lattafa gourmand perfumes.

Less sweet, more lift
Lattafa Angham · £17.99

Ginger, mandarin and pink pepper over lavender, praline, cacao and jasmine, then vanilla, amber and musk. Still a gourmand, but the spice and lavender stop it tasting of pure sugar.

Lattafa Yara · £17.99

Khamrah is the one people most often move to from Eclaire when they want something that feels richer rather than simply sweeter. Our Lattafa Khamrah review covers how it wears in detail. Nebras Elixir is the better pick if the problem with Eclaire is volume rather than sweetness: it shares the milky-vanilla mood but sits closer to the skin. Yara suits anyone who likes Eclaire’s creamy finish but wants something they can wear in spring and summer; it is also our first pick in the Cheirosa ’62 dupes guide, where Eclaire covers the caramel side. If Angham is your starting point rather than Eclaire, see four Lattafas to try after Angham.

Who Should Buy Eclaire, and Who Should Skip It?

Choose Eclaire if you love caramel, milk and vanilla, you want a dessert scent with nothing to dilute it, you wear fragrance mostly in autumn and winter, and you like the idea of a jumper that still smells of it the next day.

Choose Angham or Khamrah instead if you like gourmands but want spice, lavender or woods to give them shape.

Skip Eclaire if very sweet scents give you headaches, you mostly need something for hot weather or a small office, or you dislike milky, lactonic notes. Several Fragrantica reviewers call it polarising and not a safe blind buy.

Buying for someone else? Eclaire is our sweet-tooth pick in the best Lattafa perfumes for women guide, which is a good place to compare it with softer and fresher options before you choose.

Frequently asked questions

Tap a question to open the answer.

What does Lattafa Eclaire smell like?
Caramel and sweetened milk at first, then honey with a soft floral touch, drying down to vanilla, praline and musk. It is a creamy caramel-milk dessert scent with no spice or wood to cut the sweetness.
Is Lattafa Eclaire too sweet?
For some people, yes. Most Fragrantica reviewers describe it as very sweet, and many say it turns cloying in heat or with too many sprays. Keep it to one or two sprays in cool weather. If you want less sugar, try Lattafa Angham.
How long does Eclaire last?
Wearer reports vary widely. Some Fragrantica reviewers report around nine hours on skin and days on clothing; others say it fades within one to two hours on their skin. Spraying some on fabric helps most people.
Is Lattafa Eclaire for men or women?
Lattafa USA lists it as unisex, while Fragrantica files it under women’s fragrances. It is very sweet and creamy, so most people read it as feminine, but anyone who enjoys caramel and vanilla can wear it.
Why does my new bottle of Eclaire smell harsh?
A sharp, alcoholic opening is one of the most common comments on Fragrantica. Many wearers say it softens after the bottle has rested for a few weeks in a cool, dark place, though not everyone notices a change.
Do you sell Eclaire Pistache or Eclaire Banoffi?
Not at the moment. Both are separate 2025 flankers with their own notes, pistachio and cacao for Pistache, banana and dulce de leche for Banoffi. We stock the original Lattafa Eclaire 100ml.
Is Eclaire or Khamrah better for winter?
Both suit cold weather. Choose Eclaire for a pure caramel-milk dessert, or Khamrah for dates, cinnamon and praline with more spice and depth.
What should I try if Eclaire is too sweet or too loud?
If the sugar is the problem, try Angham for spice and lavender, or Yara for a lighter, powdery vanilla. If the volume is the problem, Nebras Elixir keeps the milky vanilla mood but sits closer to the skin.
