The Lattafa Asad collection is Lattafa’s best-known masculine line. It now has five bottles that share a name and a bottle shape but smell nothing alike, so each one suits a different season and mood. The best bottle to start with is the original Lattafa Asad. It is a bold, spicy scent in the style of Dior Sauvage Elixir, opening with pineapple and black pepper and drying down to sweet vanilla and amber.

Where to start

• Asad – pineapple, pepper and tobacco, then coffee and iris over vanilla and amber. The crowd-pleaser, and at its best in autumn and winter.
• Asad Bourbon – cocoa, nutmeg and bourbon vanilla, as an alternative to Azzaro The Most Wanted Parfum. A cosy winter gourmand that improves after a few weeks’ rest.
• Asad Elixir – saffron, tobacco and amber, in the style of Hugo Boss Bottled Absolu. Smoky and creamy, for evenings. Go easy on the sprays.
• Asad Zanzibar – lavender and pepper, then salty coconut water and iris over vanilla and incense. A summer scent that people either love or dislike.
• Asad Zanzibar Limited Edition – marine notes and lavender, then a clean soap heart over tonka, amber and woods. There is no coconut, so this is the easier fresh option.
