The Lattafa Yara collection is soft, sweet and easy to wear: creamy florals and fruit over vanilla and musk, made for daytime and warm weather rather than winter nights. It is the line that tends to win over people who assume Arabian perfume is all oud. Start with the original Yara unless you have a specific reason not to; it is the reference point for the rest of the family.

Where to start

• Yara — tangerine, orchid and heliotrope over vanilla, musk and sandalwood. Creamy and powdery rather than sugary, in the style of Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa ’62 but floral where that one is nutty.
• Yara Moi — jasmine and peach over caramel, amber and sandalwood. The more grown-up, sophisticated Yara; an alternative in the character of Marc Jacobs Perfect Intense rather than a note-for-note copy.
• Yara Tous — mango, coconut and passion fruit over jasmine, vanilla and cashmeran. The tropical, summer-coded Yara, in the style of Sol de Janeiro Rio Radiance, and the longest-wearing of the three in our testing.

Which Yara?

Setting expectations
