Qaed Al Fursan vs Unlimited vs Untamed — Three Fragrances, One Name

3 Fragrances · One Name · UK Buying Guide

Same Name, Same Bottle Shape, Three Completely Different Smells

Smoky pineapple. Creamy coconut. Warm cinnamon. Buyers mix these up constantly, and the galloping-horse bottle does not help. Here is the honest breakdown of which Qaed Al Fursan you actually want.

Qaed Al Fursan, Unlimited and Untamed are three separate fragrances, not three strengths of one. Qaed Al Fursan (2016) is smoky grilled pineapple over saffron and oud: the loudest of the three, for spring and autumn when you want to be noticed. Qaed Al Fursan Unlimited (2022) is creamy coconut, pineapple and tropical florals: soft, close, genuinely unisex, and the one for summer and the office. Qaed Al Fursan Untamed (2025) is cinnamon, burnt caramel and frankincense, in the style of Versace Eros Najim, for autumn and winter evenings. New to Arabian fragrance? Start with Unlimited. Want the classic? Buy the original.

Qaed Al Fursan (قائد الفرسان) means “leader of the knights”. Lattafa has used that name three times across nine years, on three fragrances that share almost nothing beyond a bottle silhouette.

Full Pyramids, Side by Side

The published note pyramids, tier by tier. Pineapple is the only note the original and Unlimited share at the top, and they use it in very different ways.

Qaed Al Fursan
Top
Pineapple and saffron. Sweet and juicy, with a leathery saffron edge that turns it from fruit cocktail into Arabian fragrance.
Heart
Balsam fir and jasmine. The fir is where the “grilled” smoky-resinous quality comes from.
Base
Cedar, amber and agarwood (oud). Polished, sweet, slightly smoky woods rather than a barnyard oud.
Qaed Al Fursan Unlimited
Top
Coconut, pineapple and citruses. Milky and tropical, with the fruit cutting through the cream.
Heart
Ylang-ylang, frangipani and jasmine. Lush tropical white flowers.
Base
Vanilla, musk and sandalwood. Soft, creamy and restrained rather than gourmand-sweet.
Qaed Al Fursan Untamed
Top
Cinnamon, cardamom, mandarin and nutmeg. Properly spiced, with mandarin adding a bright line.
Heart
Caramel, lavender, clary sage, geranium and cypress. Dark, burnt caramel held back by herbs.
Base
Amber, cedarwood, frankincense, labdanum and vetiver. Dry, resinous and serious.

How They Perform on Skin

This is where the three separate most clearly: one shouts, one whispers, and one starts strong then settles.

Qaed Al Fursan
A full working day on skin, longer on clothing. The loudest of the three. You go noseblind to it fast while everyone else can still smell it, so two sprays, three at the absolute outside.
Unlimited
6–8 hours with soft, close projection: a scent bubble rather than a trail. It performs noticeably better on hair and fabric than on bare skin.
Untamed
6–8 hours on skin and 10+ on clothing. Strong for the first two hours, then close. Two sprays maximum if you are wearing it to work.

All three improve with a few weeks’ rest in a cool, dark cupboard: it smooths the original’s saffron, rounds out Untamed’s spice, and takes the soapy edge off Unlimited’s opening. More on maceration →

Qaed Al Fursan — The Smoky Original

Qaed Al Fursan launched in 2016 and is still the one people mean when they say the name. It smells like pineapple laid over hot coals: sweet, caramelised and smoky, with saffron and oud underneath. It is often sold as a Creed Aventus dupe. It isn’t: the two share pineapple and jasmine, and that is where it stops. Aventus is fresh, mossy and smoky-dry; Qaed Al Fursan is sweet, resinous and smoky-rich with a saffron-and-oud spine.

✓ Buy it if you love the smoky-pineapple idea rebuilt as a sweeter, darker Arabian fragrance, or you want to be noticed at a wedding, an Eid gathering or a night out.

✕ Skip it if you want a note-for-note Aventus replacement, or you need something for a shared office. It travels.

Buy Qaed Al Fursan

Qaed Al Fursan Unlimited — The Soft Tropical One

Qaed Al Fursan Unlimited followed in 2022 and is not a stronger version of the original. It is a creamy piña colada with frangipani and ylang-ylang, melting into vanilla, musk and sandalwood. It follows the same three-act structure as Mancera Coco Vanille, with six notes in common: Lattafa swaps in pineapple where Mancera uses peach, and frangipani where Mancera uses tiare.

One thing to know before your first spray: the opening can smell like shaving foam or coconut shower gel for five to ten minutes. Wait it out. The creamy tropical scent underneath is the part people repurchase for.

✓ Buy it if you want an office, daytime or holiday fragrance, you are new to Arabian perfume, or you love Coco Vanille but not its price.

✕ Skip it if ylang-ylang has given you a headache before, or you want a room-filler. It is soft by design.

Buy Qaed Al Fursan Unlimited

Qaed Al Fursan Untamed — The Winter Spice

Qaed Al Fursan Untamed is the 2025 release and the most grown-up of the three: cinnamon and cardamom up top, burnt caramel held in check by lavender, clary sage and cypress, and frankincense and dry woods underneath. It shares seven of the eleven notes in Versace Eros Najim’s pyramid; the one missing note you would notice is oud, so it reads drier and more herbal than the Versace. See how Untamed scores against Eros Najim →

The cinnamon is not subtle. If you love warm baking spice you will love it; if cinnamon has ever given you a headache in a fragrance, skip it. Who cinnamon fragrances suit →

✓ Buy it if you want a winter dinner or evening scent that reads expensive, or you like Eros Najim’s caramel and incense.

✕ Skip it if you loved the original’s smoky pineapple. Untamed will not give it to you.

Don’t buy it expecting…Creed AventusThe original’s smoky pineapple

Buying the original expecting Aventus. It shares pineapple and jasmine, and that is where it stops. Different fragrance, different mood. Buying Untamed expecting the original. They share a name and a bottle shape. One is grilled pineapple; the other is cinnamon and burnt caramel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tap a question to open the answer.

What is the difference between Qaed Al Fursan, Unlimited and Untamed?
They are three separate fragrances sharing a name. The 2016 original is smoky pineapple with saffron and oud. Unlimited (2022) is creamy coconut and tropical florals. Untamed (2025) is warm cinnamon, caramel and frankincense; its full note pyramid, longevity and spray count are covered here.
Which Qaed Al Fursan is best?
None of them is “best”; they suit different seasons. Unlimited for warm weather and offices, Untamed for autumn and winter evenings, the original for spring and autumn when you want to be noticed.
Is Qaed Al Fursan an Aventus dupe?
Not really. It shares pineapple and jasmine with Creed Aventus, but Aventus is fresh, mossy and smoky-dry while Qaed Al Fursan is sweet and resinous with saffron and oud. Buying it as an Aventus replacement usually disappoints.
Which Qaed Al Fursan lasts longest?
The original projects hardest and runs a full working day. Untamed holds longest on clothing at 10+ hours. Unlimited is the softest at 6–8 hours by design.
Are they unisex?
All three are classified unisex. In wear, Unlimited is the most genuinely neutral, while the original and Untamed both lean masculine.
Which Qaed Al Fursan is best for summer?
Qaed Al Fursan Unlimited. Its coconut and tropical florals come alive in warm weather, while the original and Untamed both get heavy in heat.
How many sprays of Qaed Al Fursan should I use?
Two, or three at most, for the original. It is easy to go noseblind to it while it is still projecting strongly. Untamed also needs only two to three sprays, and two at most if you are wearing it to work.
Why does Qaed Al Fursan Unlimited smell like shaving foam at first?
It is the most common first impression and it passes within five to ten minutes, revealing the creamy tropical scent underneath. Letting a new bottle rest for a fortnight also reduces it. Read the maceration guide.
