The short answer

The best Lattafa perfume for autumn, for most people, is Lattafa Jasoor, the apple, tobacco and tonka Eau de Parfum (£18.99): crisp enough for a mild September afternoon, warm enough for a damp November evening. For early autumn, choose Art of Universe. For Halloween and Bonfire Night, Mayar Cherry Intense or Mashrabya. For the colder end of the season, Teriaq Intense.

Autumn in Britain is not one season. It starts with warm, bright days that still feel like summer and ends with frost on the car and the heating on. A perfume that is perfect in the first week of October can feel thin by the end of November, and a rich winter scent can feel like too much on a sunny afternoon in late September.

That is why this guide is arranged by the shape of the season rather than as a straight ranking. We already have a separate list of the best Lattafa winter perfumes for the properly cold months, so none of the five bottles below repeat that list. These are the in-between scents: a little fruit, a little spice, some smoke, and nothing so heavy that it needs a coat to justify it.

What Makes a Perfume Feel Like Autumn?

There is no official rulebook, but the notes people associate with autumn tend to fall into four groups. Recognising them makes it much easier to shop, whatever the brand.

  • Orchard fruit and dark fruit: apple, pear, plum and cherry. They bring the sweetness of harvest without the sugar rush of a full dessert scent.
  • Kitchen spices: cardamom, cinnamon, ginger and saffron. Think of mulled drinks and baking rather than anything fiery.
  • Smoke and leaf: tobacco, leather, incense and smoky woods. This is the bonfire, woodsmoke and fallen-leaves side of the season.
  • Soft warm bases: tonka, amber, benzoin and vanilla. They give a scent a cosy finish without making it heavy.

A good autumn perfume usually mixes at least two of these. A fruit top with a spicy or smoky base is the classic pattern, and all five picks below follow some version of it. If you want to go deeper on one ingredient, our guide to cinnamon fragrances and who they suit covers the most autumnal spice of all.

Early Autumn: When It Still Feels Like Summer

Lattafa Art of Universe: the bridge out of summer

Lattafa Art of Universe 100ml Eau de Parfum bottle, a ginger, pear and cedar fresh woody scent

The first few weeks of autumn are the hardest to dress for. Mornings are cool, afternoons can be warm, and a heavy scent sprayed at 8am can feel cloying by lunchtime. Art of Universe is the gentlest bottle here and the one to reach for first.

According to Fragrantica’s listing for Art of Universe, it opens with mandarin, ginger, bergamot and mint, moves into pear and orange blossom, and settles on musk, amber and cedar. The ginger and pear are what make it work for this time of year: the ginger gives a little warmth, and pear is an orchard fruit that already hints at the season ahead. The base is light rather than resinous, so it never feels like a winter perfume worn too early.

Wear it if: you are still wearing a light jacket, you work in an office, or you simply prefer clean scents. Skip it if: you want something that reads as cosy straight away. Jasoor is the better choice for that.

The Heart of the Season: October

Lattafa Jasoor: our pick for the whole of autumn

Lattafa Jasoor 100ml Eau de Parfum bottle, an apple, tobacco and tonka scent for autumn

If you only want one bottle from September to November, this is it. Fragrantica lists Jasoor’s notes as apple, cardamom and bergamot on top, tobacco, lavender and geranium in the heart, and tonka, leather, vetiver and patchouli in the base. That one note list covers three of the four autumn groups above: orchard fruit, kitchen spice and smoky leaf.

What makes it so flexible is the way it moves. The apple and cardamom keep the opening bright enough for a mild afternoon. Then the tobacco and lavender come through, followed by a darker tonka and leather finish that suits a cold evening. On Fragrantica, community votes for Jasoor put autumn and winter ahead of spring and well ahead of summer, which matches what its notes suggest.

Fragrantica lists it for women and men, although most reviewers describe it as leaning masculine because of the tobacco and leather. At £18.99 for 100ml it is also one of the most affordable bottles on this list. Our full Lattafa Jasoor review goes through how the scent develops and who should skip it.

Wear it for: weekends, walks, dinners, casual Fridays and anything in between. Watch out for: the apple opening, which a few reviewers find sharp from a brand-new bottle. Many say it smooths out after the bottle has rested for a while.

Lattafa Mayar Cherry Intense: for Halloween and dark evenings

Lattafa Mayar Cherry Intense 100ml Eau de Parfum red bottle, a cherry and cacao gourmand

By the end of October the clocks have gone back and it is dark by teatime. This is when a deeper, sweeter scent starts to make sense, and Mayar Cherry Intense is the fun choice. Its Fragrantica notes are strawberry and bergamot, then cherry jam and cacao, then vanilla, amber and patchouli.

Cherry and cacao together give a black-forest-gateau feel, and the patchouli in the base stops it from being pure sweets. It is a gourmand, so it is not for everyone, but if you like sweet scents it is the most playful option for a Halloween party or a night in with the heating on. If you are deciding between the different Mayar bottles, our Mayar vs Mayar Cherry Intense vs Mayar Natural Intense guide lays out how the three differ.

Wear it if: you love dessert scents and want something darker than a vanilla. Skip it if: you need a scent for a shared office or a warm room.

Late Autumn: Smoke, Spice and Colder Nights

Lattafa Mashrabya: the Bonfire Night bottle

Lattafa Mashrabya 100ml Eau de Parfum bottle and box, a smoky apple shisha, dates and tobacco scent

Early November in Britain smells of woodsmoke and fireworks, and Mashrabya leans into that mood. Fragrantica lists an apple shisha accord and pink pepper on top, tobacco, cinnamon and dates in the heart, and oud smoke, caramel, vanilla and patchouli in the base.

It shares Jasoor’s apple-and-tobacco idea but takes it somewhere much sweeter and smokier. The dates and caramel give it a sticky warmth, and the oud smoke adds the bonfire edge. That makes it a better match for a cold night outside than for a desk. We explain the shisha accord in more detail in our post on apple shisha perfume and the hookah accord.

Wear it if: you want a sweet, smoky scent that people will notice. Skip it if: you find cinnamon or caramel too much. Light sprays are the safer starting point.

Lattafa Teriaq Intense: rich and boozy for the end of the season

Lattafa Teriaq Intense 100ml Eau de Parfum bottle, a boozy plum, saffron and amber scent

As November moves towards December, a richer scent starts to feel right. Teriaq Intense is the most luxurious bottle here, and also the most expensive at £34.99. Fragrantica credits it to perfumer Quentin Bisch and lists saffron and bergamot on top, plum liquor and cinnamon in the heart, and amber, tonka bean and benzoin in the base.

Plum is the dark fruit of late autumn, and here it is treated like a liqueur rather than fresh fruit, wrapped in spice and resin. It is the closest of the five to a winter scent, which is why it sits at the very end of the season. Our Teriaq Intense review covers who it suits and how to wear it.

Wear it for: evenings, dinners and occasions. Skip it if: you dislike syrupy sweetness or want something for daytime.

How to Switch From Summer to Autumn Scents

1. Change your bottles gradually. Do not jump straight from a citrus scent to the heaviest gourmand you own. Move from fresh to fruity-spicy, then to smoky and rich, as the weather changes.

2. Use warmer bottles more lightly by day. Rich scents feel stronger in a warm office or on public transport. One or two sprays for daytime and a little more for evenings outside is a sensible rule of thumb.

3. Think about your coat and scarf. Autumn is layering season for clothes as well as scent. Fragrance on skin under a jumper or near a scarf will sit close to you, so you may not need to spray as much as in summer.

4. Let a new bottle rest. Many Lattafa owners say a new bottle smells smoother after a few weeks in a cool, dark cupboard. Our maceration guide explains why.

If You Only Buy One

Pick Lattafa Jasoor for an all-season autumn scent. It covers the most ground: fresh enough for the early weeks, warm enough for November, and easy to wear to most places. If you already know you prefer sweet scents, Mayar Cherry Intense is the budget alternative. If you want one statement bottle for evenings, choose Teriaq Intense. And when the frost arrives, move on to our winter list.

Autumn Perfume FAQs

Tap a question to see the answer.

What is the best Lattafa perfume for autumn?
For most people, Lattafa Jasoor. Its apple and cardamom opening is light enough for early autumn, and its tobacco, tonka and leather base suits colder evenings. It costs £18.99 for 100ml at Royal Scents.
What is the difference between an autumn and a winter perfume?
Autumn scents usually keep some brightness, such as fruit, citrus or fresh spice, alongside warm notes. Winter scents tend to be richer and heavier, with more resin, oud, vanilla and amber. The two overlap in November, which is why the later picks in this guide are the warmest.
Which notes smell most like autumn?
Apple, pear, plum and cherry for fruit; cinnamon, cardamom, ginger and saffron for spice; tobacco, leather and smoky woods for the bonfire feel; and tonka, amber and benzoin for a soft, warm finish.
Is there a fresh Lattafa that still works in autumn?
Yes. Art of Universe pairs citrus and mint with ginger, pear and a light cedar and amber base, so it feels fresh without being summery. It is our pick for late September and early October.
Are these autumn picks for men or women?
All five are listed for women and men on Fragrantica. Jasoor is often described as leaning masculine, and Mayar Cherry Intense as leaning sweet, but who wears them is up to you.
How much is delivery?
Delivery is free on every Royal Scents order in the UK, with no minimum spend. If you have a question about an order, please get in touch by email or through our contact form.
