“Untamed rebuilds Najim’s caramel-spice-incense frame but leaves out the oud, so it reads drier, spicier and more herbal. If it’s the oud you love, it isn’t here — and if cinnamon has ever given you a headache, skip this one.”

Lattafa Qaed Al Fursan Untamed — Eros Najim’s Caramel and Incense, Without the Versace Price

Cinnamon · Cardamom · Mandarin · Nutmeg · Caramel · Lavender · Clary Sage · Geranium · Cypress · Amber · Cedarwood · Frankincense · Labdanum · Vetiver — 90ml Eau de Parfum, 100% authentic, dispatched from the UK.

In 2024 Versace released Eros Najim — a caramel, cardamom and incense flanker so far removed from the minty blue Eros that people kept checking the bottle. It launched as a Middle East travel-retail exclusive, sold at Dubai airport, which is where its reputation was built. It has since reached Britain properly: Harrods and Selfridges both stock it, at around £130 for 100ml.

A year later came Qaed Al Fursan Untamed — Lattafa’s answer to it, sharing seven of its eleven notes.

Draw your own conclusions. We’ve drawn ours, and we’ll show you the maths below — including the honest differences, because there are four of them and one of them matters.

Lattafa Qaed Al Fursan Untamed Notes — The Pyramid at a Glance

ITop NotesFirst 30 min

Warm and properly spiced. Baking spice, mulled-wine spice — with green cardamom lifting it and mandarin cutting a bright citrus line through the middle. It smells like a market stall in November.

CinnamonCardamomMandarinNutmeg
IIHeart NotesHours 1–3

The clever bit. Caramel arrives dark and burnt rather than sugary — and just as it threatens to tip into gourmand, lavender, clary sage and cypress pull it back. That tension is what makes this interesting rather than merely pleasant.

CaramelLavenderClary SageGeraniumCypress
IIIBase NotesHours 3–8

Resinous and serious. Frankincense brings a dry, smoky, almost sacred quality; labdanum and amber bring warmth; cedar and vetiver bring the dry woody backbone. This is what makes it smell far more expensive than it has any right to.

The Eros Najim Question — Answered Properly

Ask what Lattafa Qaed Al Fursan Untamed is inspired by and you’ll find a fight. Half the reviews call it a close Eros Najim alternative. The other half insist it has nothing to do with Najim at all. Both camps are right, and here’s the bit nobody explains.

Missing from Untamed — 4 notes
✕ Oud✕ Saffron✕ Patchouli✕ Tonka Bean

The mandarin-cardamom-caramel opening, the cedar, the frankincense, the vetiver — rebuilt almost item for item. Of the four that are missing, only oud is one you’d notice.

So what’s missing? Four notes — and one of them does nearly all the damage.

Najim has oud, saffron, patchouli and tonka bean. Untamed has none of them. Saffron, patchouli and tonka are supporting players you would struggle to pick out blind — but oud is not, and oud is precisely what gives Najim its smooth, resinous, unmistakably Arabian weight. Take it out and the whole fragrance shifts. And look at what Lattafa put in its place: lavender, clary sage, geranium and cypress. That’s a classic aromatic accord — herbal, dry, almost European.

Where to buy it in the UKRoyal Scents — in stock, 90mlHarrods & Selfridges — around £130 for 100ml

The result is that Untamed takes Najim’s caramel-spice-incense frame and dresses it differently. It’s spicier, drier, greener and more herbal. That is why one perceptive reviewer said it reminded him more of Burberry Hero than of anything Middle Eastern. He wasn’t wrong.

Our verdict: if you love Najim’s caramel-and-incense character, Untamed will make you very happy indeed — and at a fraction of what Versace charges for it. If it’s specifically the oud you love, know that it isn’t here, and buy accordingly. We’d rather you spent £130 at Harrods and enjoyed it than spent a tenth of that here and felt short-changed.

Be Warned: The Cinnamon Is Not Subtle

We’d rather flag this than have you discover it. Untamed is properly spiced — cinnamon and nutmeg are right at the front and they do not whisper.

If this is you…Then
You love warm baking spice — cinnamon buns, mulled wine, chai✓ You will love this bottle
You’re neutral on cinnamon but like woody-resinous scents~ Rest the bottle a few weeks first
Cinnamon has ever given you a headache in a fragrance✕ Skip it — no maceration fixes that

Most people find it warm and moreish. A minority find it sharp and a bit sweet-shop — one reviewer likened it to the cinnamon boiled sweets nobody wanted at Halloween. Better you know now. Our cinnamon guide explains why it reads differently on different skin →

Which Qaed Al Fursan Do You Want?

Three fragrances, one name, and they smell nothing alike. This confuses people constantly:

FragranceSmells LikeCharacterBest For
Untamed this oneCinnamon, caramel, frankincense, dry woodsWarm, spicy, resinous, grown-upAutumn / winter, evenings
Qaed Al Fursan (2016)Grilled pineapple, saffron, oudSmoky, sweet, projects hardSpring / autumn
Qaed Al Fursan Unlimited (2022)Coconut, pineapple, tropical floralsCreamy, soft, truly unisexSpring / summer, daytime

Untamed is the cold-weather one. If you came for warm spice and smoke, this is it. Full three-way comparison — pyramids, seasons and which to buy first →

Already Own Asad Bourbon?

Worth knowing, since a lot of our customers do: Untamed sits in a similar warm-spicy-woody neighbourhood, but it is lighter and it lacks Bourbon’s chocolatey sweetness. Where Bourbon is rich and boozy, Untamed is drier and more aromatic — the herbs and frankincense keep it from getting heavy. They’re complementary rather than duplicative, but if you want only one, that’s the difference. Our full Asad comparison is here →

The Lattafa Qaed Al Fursan Untamed Bottle and Packaging

The Lattafa Qaed Al Fursan Untamed perfume bottle is excellent, and a large part of why this fragrance punches so far above its price. A square flacon in dark brown glass — the brown bottle you’ll recognise from the photos — with the galloping-horse motif of the Qaed Al Fursan line, a weighty feel in the hand, and a magnetic cap that shuts with a satisfying click. It does not look like a budget fragrance. The 90ml sprayer is even and fine.

Lattafa Qaed Al Fursan Untamed packaging follows the standard Lattafa presentation: a printed outer box carrying the holographic authentication seal and a batch code on the base — the two things to check first when it lands. Every bottle we ship is sealed, boxed and 100% original.

What Lattafa Qaed Al Fursan Untamed Reviews Say

Read enough of the Lattafa Qaed Al Fursan Untamed reviews and a clear pattern emerges — and any single Lattafa Qaed Al Fursan Untamed review tends to land in one of the same camps. The praise is consistent: the caramel-and-frankincense drydown, the bottle, and a price-to-quality ratio people describe as absurd. The criticism is equally consistent and splits into exactly two camps — those who came expecting Eros Najim’s oud and didn’t find it, and those who find the cinnamon too loud. Both are addressed above, honestly, because they’re the two reasons a bottle gets returned.

Why Buy From Royal Scents

Every bottle is genuine Lattafa, sourced properly and stored in the UK. And you’ll notice we told you which four notes are missing, where to buy the Versace if you want it instead, and that the cinnamon might not suit you — because we’d rather sell you the right bottle than process your return.

Good to Know Before You Buy

  • It rewards a rest. As with most Lattafa, a few weeks in a cool dark cupboard rounds out the spice. More on maceration →
  • Two or three sprays is plenty, and one of them belongs on fabric rather than skin. Why spray count changes the balance →
  • Classified unisex, wears masculine. Plenty of women wear it, but be aware it leans distinctly masculine — one buyer bought it having missed that entirely.
  • The frankincense is doing the heavy lifting in the drydown. More resinous Lattafa fragrances →
  • Also listed as “untamed qaed al fursan” and “lattafa untamed qaed al fursan” — same fragrance, you’re on the right page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Lattafa Qaed Al Fursan Untamed inspired by Versace Eros Najim?
Yes, and unusually closely. The two share seven notes — mandarin, cardamom, clary sage, caramel, cedarwood, vetiver and incense — which is seven of the eleven in Najim’s pyramid. Untamed leaves out oud, saffron, patchouli and tonka bean. Saffron, patchouli and tonka are supporting notes most wearers would not miss; oud is the one you notice. Lattafa replaces it with an aromatic accord of lavender, clary sage, geranium and cypress, which makes Untamed drier, spicier and more herbal than the Versace.

What is in the bottle?
90ml of eau de parfum built on fourteen notes — cinnamon and cardamom at the top, burnt caramel and herbs through the heart, frankincense and dry woods underneath. The pyramid is set out in full above. For how those notes actually behave hour by hour, our wear guide breaks down the full note pyramid and longevity →

Can you buy Versace Eros Najim in the UK?
Yes. It launched in 2024 as a Middle East travel-retail exclusive, which is where the “you can’t get it here” reputation came from, but it is now sold in Britain — Harrods and Selfridges both stock it at around £130 for 100ml. Untamed is not the only way to get Najim; it is the affordable way to get most of what Najim smells like.

Why do some reviewers say it smells nothing like Eros Najim?
Because of the missing oud. Najim’s oud gives it a smooth, resinous, distinctly Middle Eastern character. Without it, Untamed reads as a drier, more herbal, more aromatic fragrance despite sharing most of the same notes. Both reactions are honest — they are describing the same absence.

Will one bottle last me?
Comfortably. At the two to three sprays this needs, a 90ml bottle runs to well over a year of regular autumn and winter wear. On the day itself, expect six to eight hours on skin and ten or more on clothing — how many sprays to use, and where to put them →

What do Qaed Al Fursan Untamed reviews say?
Consistently positive on the drydown, the bottle and the value. The two recurring criticisms are the absent oud, if you arrived expecting Eros Najim exactly, and the forward cinnamon, which a minority find sharp. Neither is a fault — they are the two things worth knowing before you order.

Is this the new Lattafa Qaed Al Fursan Untamed?
Yes. Untamed is the 2025 release and the third fragrance in the Qaed Al Fursan line, after the 2016 original and Unlimited in 2022. It is the only one of the three built around cinnamon, caramel and frankincense. See every recent Lattafa release →

What is the difference between Qaed Al Fursan, Unlimited and Untamed?
They are three different fragrances sharing a name. The original is smoky pineapple with saffron and oud. Unlimited is a creamy coconut and tropical floral scent. Untamed is a warm woody spice with cinnamon, caramel and frankincense.

Is Qaed Al Fursan Untamed for men or women?
It is classified for both, but it leans distinctly masculine in wear. Women do wear it, but go in knowing its character.

What season is Qaed Al Fursan Untamed best for?
Autumn and winter, and evening wear. Its warm spice and resinous base come into their own in cold weather.

Written and wear-tested by Shaheen Shah Abrar, Founder of Royal Scents. Tested across a Nottingham winter, on skin and on a wool coat — where it was still going strong the following morning.
