Lattafa Asad Elixir & Yara Elixir Review: The His-and-Hers Elixir Pair Compared

Fragrance Review · The 2025 Elixir Pair

Two Elixirs, One Winter: Smoky Tobacco for Him, Strawberry Caramel for Her

Lattafa released Asad Elixir and Yara Elixir in 2025 as richer, darker versions of its two best-known fragrances. They share a season and a mood, but they smell nothing alike. Here is how each one smells, how they perform, and whether they work as a his-and-hers pair.

9/10Asad Elixir
8/10Yara Elixir

Lattafa Asad Elixir and Yara Elixir are the 2025 “Elixir” versions of Asad and Yara, and both are cold-weather evening fragrances. Asad Elixir (men’s, £21.49) is smoky and spicy: pink pepper and saffron, a tobacco-vanilla heart and a resinous amber-frankincense base, in the style of Hugo Boss Bottled Absolu. Yara Elixir (women’s, £21.99) is a sweet gourmand: strawberry s’mores and black currant, soft jasmine and orange flower, then vanilla, caramel, amber and musk. Asad Elixir is the bolder of the two; Yara Elixir stays closer to the skin and lingers. On Fragrantica they hold 4.41/5 and 4.24/5 respectively, and both tend to improve after a few weeks’ rest. As a pair, they suit the same evenings without clashing.

What Does “Elixir” Actually Mean at Lattafa?

Less than you might think. As Fragrantica’s editorial review of the pair points out, “Elixir” is not an industry standard; it simply signals a richer, more concentrated take on a familiar fragrance. Both bottles are sold as Eau de Parfum, the same as the originals.

What the name does tell you is direction. Each Elixir takes its parent somewhere darker and warmer: Asad Elixir trades the original’s pineapple brightness for saffron and heavier tobacco, and Yara Elixir swaps the pink Yara’s airy orchid-and-tangerine softness for strawberry, caramel and amber. Neither is “the original but stronger”. They are different fragrances that share a name.

Lattafa Asad Elixir: What It Smells Like

Smoky, spicy and grown-up.

The opening
Pink pepper, saffron, grapefruit
A sharp, spicy start. Pink pepper and saffron lead; grapefruit adds a brief bright edge.
The heart
Tobacco, vanilla, cedar
The defining stage: a rich tobacco softened by vanilla and kept dry by cedar. This is where the Bottled Absolu comparison comes from.
The dry-down
Amber, frankincense, patchouli, cashmeran
Resinous, earthy and smooth. Fragrantica’s editor described the dry-down as refined.

Fragrantica’s review links its tobacco heart to the DNA of Dior Sauvage Elixir, Hugo Boss Bottled Absolu and Lattafa’s own Asad Bourbon, while owner reviews most often name Bottled Absolu. For the full breakdown, performance and who should skip it, read our dedicated Lattafa Asad Elixir review.

Lattafa Yara Elixir: What It Smells Like

Strawberry dessert, warmed up for winter.

The opening
Strawberry s’mores, black currant
Jammy, toasted strawberry with a marshmallow-like softness. Black currant adds a tart snap that stops it going flat.
The heart
Jasmine, orange flower
Soft florals wrapped in sweetness. They read creamy rather than fresh, a warm thread rather than a bouquet.
The dry-down
Vanilla, caramel, amber, musk
The longest stage: caramel and vanilla, with amber and musk keeping the sweetness in check. Cosy and close.

Fragrantica’s editor judged Yara Elixir the more successful of the two, noting that its amber and musk stop it becoming cloying and that it lingers more than it projects. Fragrantica owner reviews often compare it to Kayali Yum Boujee Marshmallow, usually calling the two sisters rather than twins; Yara Elixir has more caramel and less fluffy marshmallow. We set out exactly where they match on the Yara Elixir product page, and how it compares with the rest of the family in Which Lattafa Yara to buy. For the straight choice between it and the original pink bottle, see Yara vs Yara Elixir.

Both published note pyramids
Asad Elixir
Pink pepper, saffron, grapefruit · tobacco, vanilla, cedar · amber, frankincense, patchouli, cashmeran
Yara Elixir
Strawberry s’mores, black currant · jasmine, orange flower · vanilla, caramel, amber, musk
Notes match across Fragrantica (Asad Elixir), Fragrantica (Yara Elixir) and Lattafa’s official listings, apart from wording such as olibanum for frankincense.

Performance: Which Lattafa Elixir Lasts Longer?

Lattafa publishes no longevity figures for either bottle, so here is what the evidence supports rather than a made-up number.

Asad Elixir
The bolder of the two, with a denser, resinous base that clings well to clothing. Owner reviews generally describe long wear, though Fragrantica’s editor felt it was more restrained than the “Elixir” name suggests.
Yara Elixir
A closer, softer trail. Reviewers commonly report roughly three to eight hours on skin, with wide variation by skin type, and longer on clothing.

Both Lattafa Elixirs Get Better With Time

One point Fragrantica’s editor made about both: they felt restrained on first wear and seemed likely to open up with time and warmer skin. That matches a wider pattern with Lattafa’s denser formulas, where a new bottle smells sharper and quieter than it will a few weeks later. If either feels underpowered at first, let it rest in a cool, dark cupboard before judging it. How long Lattafa bottles need to rest →

How Many Sprays of Each Lattafa Elixir, and When to Wear Them

Sprays
Two to three for an evening for either. One, on clothing, if you must wear them to the office.
Season
Autumn and winter. Tobacco, caramel and amber turn heavy in heat.
Occasions
Dinners, dates, winter parties and cosy weekends. Neither is a gym or summer scent.

Do the Lattafa Elixirs Work as a His-and-Hers Pair?

Yes, and it is the combination our customers order together most. The reasons are practical:

  • Same season, same occasions. Both are built for cold evenings, so neither feels out of place next to the other.
  • Contrast, not competition. One is smoky and spicy, the other sweet and fruity. Worn side by side, they read as two distinct scents rather than a muddle.
  • Different volumes. Asad Elixir carries further; Yara Elixir stays close. Keep Asad Elixir to two sprays on a shared evening so it does not drown the softer one.
  • A matched gift. Same release, same “Elixir” story, similar price: an easy pair for anniversaries, Eid or Christmas.

We would not layer them on the same skin, though. Tobacco and strawberry-caramel do not blend gracefully; they are better as a pair than a cocktail.

✓ Choose Lattafa Asad Elixir if you like smoky tobacco and saffron, want something bold for cold evenings, and enjoy the Bottled Absolu style.

✓ Choose Lattafa Yara Elixir if you love sweet strawberry and caramel, prefer a scent that stays close, and want a richer winter version of Yara.

✕ Skip both if you need a summer or office fragrance, or you dislike either tobacco or very sweet gourmands.

Verdict

Lattafa Asad Elixir, 9/10: one of the strongest tobacco fragrances in the Lattafa range and a convincing Bottled Absolu-style bottle. It loses a point only for being so seasonal.

Lattafa Yara Elixir, 8/10: a delicious, cosy strawberry-caramel gourmand and the best-balanced of the two by Fragrantica’s editorial judgement. It loses marks for quieter projection and performance that varies a lot by skin.

Together, they are the easiest his-and-hers winter pair in the range for under £45.

What does Lattafa Yara Elixir smell like?
Strawberry s’mores and black currant to open, soft jasmine and orange flower in the heart, and a warm vanilla, caramel, amber and musk base. It is sweet, creamy and cosy.
Which lasts longer, Lattafa Asad Elixir or Yara Elixir?
Asad Elixir is the bolder performer with a denser base. Yara Elixir stays closer to the skin; reviewers commonly report about three to eight hours on skin, varying by skin type. Lattafa publishes no official figures for either.
Are Lattafa Asad Elixir and Yara Elixir a good gift set?
Yes. They share a release, a season and the “Elixir” name, but smell completely different, so they work as a his-and-hers pair without clashing. It is the combination our customers order together most.
Is Lattafa Yara Elixir stronger than the original Yara?
It is richer and sweeter rather than simply stronger. Both are Eau de Parfum; Yara Elixir swaps the original’s airy orchid and tangerine for strawberry, caramel and amber.
