Lattafa Mayar Cherry Intense 100ml eau de parfum red bottle, a cherry and cacao gourmand

Lattafa Mayar vs Mayar Cherry Intense vs Mayar Natural Intense: Which One Is for You?

The short answer

Choose Mayar Cherry Intense (£16.99) if you want a dark, sweet gourmand for autumn and winter evenings: strawberry and bergamot opening onto cherry jam and cacao, then vanilla, amber and patchouli. Choose Mayar Natural Intense (£18.99) if you want the opposite: a fresh, watery fig, coconut water and lotus scent for warm days and the office.

The original pink Mayar is a lychee, raspberry and rose fruity floral. It is currently out of stock at Royal Scents. The three share a name and a bottle shape, not a scent, so none of them is a stronger or lighter version of another.

Lattafa launched the original Mayar in 2022, then added Mayar Natural Intense and the red-bottled Cherry Intense in 2024. Together they make up the Lattafa Mayar collection. The shared name causes a lot of wrong orders. People expect “Intense” to mean the same perfume made stronger, and it does not: each bottle has its own note pyramid, its own season and its own type of wearer.

This guide puts all three side by side so you can pick the right colour first time. Every pyramid below was checked against Fragrantica and Lattafa’s US distributor listings in October 2026.

Pyramids, launch years and ratings as shown on Fragrantica, checked October 2026. Ratings move as votes come in, and the original has roughly twice as many voters as either Intense, so treat small gaps with caution.

A note on the original Mayar’s pyramid. For Cherry Intense and Natural Intense, Fragrantica and Lattafa USA list the same notes. For the original, they do not. Fragrantica lists litchi, raspberry and violet leaf over white rose, peony and jasmine, with musk and vanilla. Lattafa USA’s Mayar gift set listing gives raspberry, litchi and black currant, then rose, magnolia and benzoin, then amber and patchouli. Both agree on the core: lychee and raspberry over rose. We use the Fragrantica pyramid above and flag the difference rather than pick a winner.

What does Mayar Cherry Intense smell like?

Mayar Cherry Intense is the gourmand of the family. Fragrantica’s top accords for it are cacao, sweet, warm spicy and fruity, in that order, which tells you the chocolate matters as much as the fruit. Lattafa USA calls it a unisex scent that blends oriental and gourmand notes, and Fragrantica lists it for women and men.

Opening
Strawberry and bergamot. Bright and sugary. This is the stage reviewers argue about: some love it, others describe it as medicinal or like cough syrup for the first few minutes.
Heart
Cherry jam and cacao. Cooked, jammy fruit rather than fresh cherries, with cocoa underneath. Reviewers use words like “dark chocolate” and “cherry jam”, and several compare it to chocolate-covered cherries.
Dry-down
Vanilla, amber and patchouli. Warm, sweet and slightly earthy. The patchouli is what gives it enough weight to wear on anyone.

Opinion on Fragrantica’s Mayar Cherry Intense page is sharply split. Plenty of reviewers love the chocolate-cherry character; others find it synthetic or too sweet, and a few struggle to pick out the cherry at all. A recurring theme is that it improves after the bottle has rested for a few weeks, which is common with new Lattafa bottles. Our guide to how long Lattafa perfumes need to macerate explains what that means and how long to wait.

If you like the gourmand side of Lattafa generally, Cherry Intense sits in the same world as Khamrah and Angham. Our Angham vs Khamrah gourmand comparison covers those if you want something without fruit, and our pick of Lattafa winter perfumes has more warm bottles for the colder months.

Mayar vs Mayar Cherry Intense: what actually changes?

Almost everything. The original Mayar is built on lychee and raspberry over a soft rose, peony and jasmine heart, finishing on light musk and vanilla. Fragrantica’s top accords for it are fruity, rose, sweet and fresh. It is bright, pretty and floral.

Cherry Intense drops the flowers entirely. It swaps lychee for strawberry and cherry jam, adds cacao, and replaces the light musk base with amber and patchouli. Where the original is a spring fruity floral, Cherry Intense is a cold-weather dessert. The only thing they really share is a fruity, sweet opening.

So if you loved the original and want “more of it”, Cherry Intense is not that. If you loved the original’s fruitiness but want something richer for winter, it is a sensible next step. If the original’s freshness was the point, look at Natural Intense instead.

Mayar Natural Intense: the fresh one

Mayar Natural Intense goes in the opposite direction. Fig, green tangerine, melon and coconut water open into lotus, water lily and jasmine, with musk, ambroxan, sandalwood and a little vanilla underneath. Fragrantica’s top accords are floral, aquatic, fruity and ozonic.

Reviewers on Fragrantica’s Mayar Natural Intense page consistently call it a hot-weather scent, and several say it is clean without being soapy. The criticisms are about the opening, which some find too green or sour, and about the ambroxan, which a few read as metallic. As with Cherry Intense, many say it needs patience and improves with rest.

Despite the name, “Intense” does not mean loud here. This is a close-wearing fresh scent, and that is the reason to buy it: office days, summer weddings and long journeys where a heavy gourmand would be too much. If that lighter style is what you are after, browse our fresh and aquatic Lattafa perfumes too.

Which Mayar lasts longest?

Lattafa publishes no longevity figures for any of the three, so the only evidence is what wearers report. Here is the spread from Fragrantica reviews, paraphrased.

Cherry Intense

Very mixed. Some reviewers say it projects a long way and lasts all day. Others report around four to six hours, and a few say it fades fast or is milder than they expected.

Natural Intense

Moderate on skin. One reviewer reports around four hours on skin and seven on clothes; another gets about six hours on skin and a full day on fabric. Some find it too short-lived. Sillage tends to sit close after a couple of hours.

Mayar (original)

Split. Several reviewers report eight hours or more; one applied it at 9am and could still smell it at 4pm. Others say it fades quickly on skin but lasts on clothing.

The honest summary: none of the three is a guaranteed all-day projector, and skin chemistry makes a big difference. Natural Intense is the quietest by design. Cherry Intense smells the richest, which can make it feel stronger, but reports range widely. For all three, spraying clothing as well as skin is the habit wearers mention most.

Are any of them designer dupes?

Briefly, because each product page covers this in detail:

  • Mayar: most often compared to Mugler Angel Nova, though opinion on how close it is varies. See the original Mayar page for the detail.
  • Mayar Natural Intense: reviewers often mention Armani Acqua di Gioia, as a relative rather than a copy. The Natural Intense product page covers it.
  • Mayar Cherry Intense: no consistent designer match, so treat it as its own scent. Cherry Intense’s own page explains why.

Can you layer Mayar Cherry Intense with Khamrah?

Yes, and it is the pairing Fragrantica reviewers recommend most often for Cherry Intense. One reviewer calls the combination “phenomenal”. The logic is simple: Lattafa Khamrah (£22.99) brings dates, cinnamon, praline and vanilla, and Cherry Intense adds a jammy fruit and cocoa layer on top. The result reads like a boozy cherry dessert.

Start with one spray of each, Khamrah first, and adjust from there. Both are sweet, so it is easy to overdo. Our guide to what to layer with Lattafa Khamrah covers this and three other pairings wearers recommend.

Which one should you choose?

Choose Mayar Cherry Intense if you love chocolate, cherry and dessert scents, you want something for autumn and winter evenings, you want a sweet scent that works on men as well as women, or you already like Khamrah and want a fruity partner for it.

Choose Mayar Natural Intense if you want a fresh scent for summer and the office, you like clean aquatic florals, or heavy sweet perfumes give you a headache.

Wanted the original Mayar? It is out of stock at the moment. If it was the fruitiness you liked, try Cherry Intense. If it was the light, bright feel, Natural Intense is closer in mood.

Skip Cherry Intense if sweet gourmands have never suited you or you need something for hot weather. Skip Natural Intense if you want a perfume people notice across a room.

Still deciding between these and the rest of the range? Both Intenses appear in our ten best Lattafa perfumes for women, sorted by mood and season, and our guide to every Lattafa collection shows how Mayar fits alongside Yara, Khamrah and the rest.

Frequently asked questions

Tap a question to open the answer.

Is Mayar Cherry Intense a stronger version of Mayar?
No. It is a different fragrance. The original Mayar is a lychee, raspberry and rose fruity floral; Cherry Intense is a strawberry, cherry jam and cacao gourmand with a vanilla, amber and patchouli base. “Intense” is part of the name, not a description of strength.
What are the notes in Mayar Cherry Intense?
Top: strawberry and bergamot. Heart: cherry jam and cacao. Base: vanilla, amber and patchouli. Fragrantica and Lattafa USA list the same pyramid.
Which Mayar is best for summer?
Mayar Natural Intense. Its fig, coconut water and lotus notes are fresh and watery, and Fragrantica reviewers consistently recommend it for hot weather. Cherry Intense is better kept for autumn and winter.
Is Mayar Cherry Intense unisex?
Yes. Fragrantica lists it for women and men, and Lattafa USA describes it as unisex. The cacao and patchouli give it enough depth to suit anyone who likes sweet scents.
Is the original Lattafa Mayar available?
Not at the moment. The original pink Mayar is currently out of stock at Royal Scents. Mayar Cherry Intense and Mayar Natural Intense are both in stock. If it was the lychee and rose you loved, Mohra Silky Rose (£13.99) shares litchi, rose, musk and vanilla on Fragrantica’s pyramid.
What does Mayar Cherry Intense layer well with?
Lattafa Khamrah is the pairing Fragrantica reviewers mention most. Khamrah’s dates, praline and vanilla sit well under the cherry and cocoa. Start with one spray of each.
Why does my new Mayar smell harsh?
Many Fragrantica reviewers of all three Mayars say the opening was sharp at first and smoothed out after the bottle rested for a few weeks. Spray it a few times, store it somewhere cool and dark, and try again later.
