What the Note List Doesn’t Tell You

The note list is the easy part, and you can find it anywhere. What you cannot find is what changes between two sprays and four, why it smells different on a wool coat than on your neck, what a cold morning does to the cinnamon, and whether the bottle you have just opened is the bottle you will have in six weeks. The Full Note Pyramid
Fourteen notes, in the order you meet them. This is the list as Lattafa publishes it, and it matches what the fragrance actually does on skin — which is not always true of a Lattafa note list.

No oud, no saffron, no tonka. If you arrived here from Versace Eros Najim, those are three of the four notes you will miss — and oud is the only one you will actually notice.
Worn from a single 90ml bottle across a Nottingham autumn and winter — roughly October to February, in temperatures from about 2°C to 16°C. Tested at one, two, three and four sprays, on normal-to-dry skin, on cotton shirting and on a wool overcoat. The bottle was tried fresh on arrival and again after six weeks of rest, which is where the maceration observations below come from. Longevity was checked by asking someone else, not by sniffing our own wrist.
How Many Sprays of Untamed? Two and Four Are Different Fragrances
This is the single most useful thing we learned, and it is not a figure of speech. Untamed does not simply get louder as you add sprays — the balance shifts.
Bar length shows how far forward the cinnamon sits — not how long the fragrance lasts. Longevity barely moves between two and four sprays; the balance moves a great deal.

At one spray you get the idea but not the fragrance — pleasant for an hour, then a skin scent. Useful only in mild weather, or on a day you want it barely there.
At two sprays the caramel and frankincense carry it, and the cinnamon reads as a warm edge rather than the main event. This is the version people describe as “expensive”, and it is where we would tell anyone to start.
At three you get the same balance with more presence — enough to fill the space around you at a dinner table without imposing on the next one.
At four or more, the cinnamon and nutmeg push to the front and stay there. This is where the “cinnamon boiled sweets” criticism comes from, and it is almost always self-inflicted. If you have found Untamed too sharp, try it again with two sprays before you give up on it.
How Long Untamed Lasts: Where You Spray Beats How Much You Spray
Untamed is unusually fabric-hungry. The resins in the base cling to fibres and keep releasing long after skin has given up — which is why the longevity figures look contradictory depending on who is reporting them.
Bars are drawn to a 20-hour scale. The gap between skin and wool is not a rounding difference — it is the whole reason two people can report wildly different longevity for the same bottle.

The practical version: one spray either side of the neck, one on the inside of a jacket lapel. The skin sprays give you the opening; the fabric spray gives you the trail. Spraying all three on skin wastes most of what the base can do.
One caution — the same clinginess that makes wool great makes it hard to undo. If you are not sure you like it yet, do not spray your only winter coat.
Projection and Sillage Are Not the Same as Longevity
These get conflated constantly, and with Untamed the difference is the whole story. It lasts a long time. It only projects for a short one.
Fabric sprays break this curve — a lapel spray keeps a light trail going long after the skin has gone quiet.
What this means in practice: it is loudest in the first two hours, which is exactly the window that matters for a dinner or an evening out, and exactly the window that makes it a poor choice for a 9am open-plan office. It is not a Khamrah-style room-filler at any point — but for those first two hours it is not discreet either.
Cold Weather Is Not Optional
Most fragrances are “better in winter”. Untamed is closer to only in winter, and the reason is the cinnamon.
Cinnamaldehyde — what makes cinnamon smell hot — is pushed forward by warm skin. On a cold morning the spice stays tucked behind the caramel and the fragrance reads rounded and resinous. On a mild spring afternoon, the same two sprays read noticeably sharper, and by summer it is a different and worse fragrance.
The Bottle You Open Is Not the Bottle You Keep
Fresh Untamed opens sharp. There is an alcoholic bite over the cinnamon for the first minute or two that is not present on a bottle that has sat for a month.
Leave it in a cool, dark cupboard for four to six weeks and three things change: the opening rounds out, the caramel thickens, and the drydown arrives sooner. Nothing about the composition has changed — the alcohol has simply settled and the materials have married.

Can I wear Qaed Al Fursan Untamed in summer?
Not well. Warm skin pushes the cinnamon forward, so the same two sprays that read rounded and resinous at 5°C read sharp and sweet-shop at 20°C. Below about 12°C it is excellent; between 12 and 18°C drop to one skin spray and one on fabric; above 18°C wear something else. This is a cold-weather bottle, not an all-rounder.

Does it project, or is it a skin scent?
Both, in that order. Strong projection for the first two hours, arm’s length for the next three, then a close skin scent that still hangs on to hour eight. A fabric spray keeps a light trail going after the skin has gone quiet.
Is it safe to spray on clothing?
On wool and cotton, yes — that is where it performs best, and we saw no marking on either across a winter of wear. Be more careful with silk and pale delicates, where any eau de parfum can leave a ring, and spray from about 15cm rather than up close. The real caution is not staining but commitment: the resins cling to wool for days, so do not test it on your only winter coat.
