Lattafa Kashan: Raspberry, Cashmeran and Vetiver in a Modern Woody

Kashan is not a sweet oud or an amber bomb. It is a dry, musky, slightly powdery woody with a raspberry note running through it, and Fragrantica credits it to a named perfumer.

How the Pyramid Reads

Top: pink pepper, orange, clary sage. This is a bright, aromatic opening rather than a sweet one. Clary sage is herbal and slightly musky, and it sets the tone for the rest. Lattafa lists pink pepper; Fragrantica lists it simply as “pepper”.

Heart: raspberry, cashmeran, ambroxan. This is the modern core of Kashan. Cashmeran is a soft, musky-woody material that some people describe as smelling like warm wood or even pencil shavings. Ambroxan adds a radiant, mineral glow. The raspberry sits on top of both and gives a juicy edge without turning the fragrance into a fruity scent.

Base: vetiver, sandalwood, musk. A dry, clean finish. Vetiver brings an earthy, slightly smoky grass note, sandalwood softens it, and musk ties it together.

The Accord Profile

Fragrantica’s top accords for Kashan, in the order voters rank them. The column heights show rank only.

Woody
Musky
Powdery
Aromatic
Amber
Fresh spicy

“Sweet” and “fruity” only appear further down the list. So despite the raspberry, Kashan wears as a woody-musky fragrance first.

Men’s Fragrance or Unisex?

That depends on where you look. Lattafa’s own site lists Kashan under men, while Fragrantica lists it for women and men. The pyramid supports the unisex reading: there is nothing aggressively masculine here, and the powdery, musky profile is just as easy for women to wear. If you usually buy from the men’s shelf, it will feel modern and clean. If you usually buy women’s florals, it will feel like a dry, interesting woody.

What the Community Compares It To

Lattafa doesn’t market Kashan as a dupe. Fragrantica reviewers bring up several reference points, and the spread itself tells you something:

  • Byredo Mixed Emotions and Zadig & Voltaire Just Rock! come up as similar in mood.
  • Bentley Absolute comes up for the pencil-shaving woodiness.
  • Escentric Molecules comes up because of the cashmeran-led, molecular feel.

Treat these as reviewer impressions, not claims from us. The reviews are also polarised. Some people call it niche-quality and unusual, while others find it medicinal or synthetic. Cashmeran affects people very differently, and it is usually the reason for that split.

The Lattafa Pride Neighbours

Kashan sits in Lattafa Pride next to two very different bottles. Lattafa Art of Nature I goes dark and animalic with plum, leather and oud. Lattafa La African Drummer goes creamy and tropical with coconut and white flowers. If what you like about Kashan is its dry, powdery side, also look at Lattafa Guinea. It shares pink pepper, sandalwood and musk, and adds iris and vanilla for a softer, more powdery take.

Wearing Kashan

  • Works year-round. With no heavy amber or vanilla, it doesn’t go cloying in warm weather, and the woods keep it grounded in winter.
  • Good office pick. Dry, musky and clean is about as safe as a fragrance gets at work.
  • Try before committing, if you can. Because cashmeran divides people, Kashan suits a buyer who already knows they like modern, molecular woods.

Kashan: Common Questions

Tap any question to open it.

Who made Lattafa Kashan?
Fragrantica credits perfumer Gaël Montero. It was released in 2024 in the Lattafa Pride line.
What does Kashan smell like?
A dry, musky, slightly powdery woody with raspberry running through it. Pink pepper, orange and clary sage open it, raspberry, cashmeran and ambroxan form the heart, and vetiver, sandalwood and musk finish it.
Is Kashan for men or unisex?
Lattafa lists it for men. Fragrantica lists it for women and men. Its woody, musky, powdery profile works on anyone.
Is Kashan a dupe of Byredo Mixed Emotions?
Lattafa doesn’t claim it is. Fragrantica reviewers mention Mixed Emotions among several comparisons, alongside Zadig & Voltaire Just Rock!, Bentley Absolute and Escentric Molecules. Treat these as reviewer impressions rather than a confirmed match.
Why do some reviewers find it medicinal?
The heart relies on cashmeran and ambroxan, modern materials that some noses read as clean and others read as synthetic. That split shows up clearly in Fragrantica reviews.
What can I buy while Kashan is out of stock?
Art of Universe for a fresh, modern woody, King of Arabia for raspberry with leather, or Oud Mood Reminiscence Silver for raspberry with saffron and oud. All three are in stock, and UK delivery is free on every order.
