Dukhan (دخان) is Arabic for smoke — a nod to the Arabian tradition of burning bakhoor and resins, which is exactly the mood Lattafa was going for. Released in 2025, it is the third bottle in the Khamrah line after the original Khamrah and Khamrah Qahwa, and the first one Lattafa openly positions with a masculine lean.

Khamrah Dukhan keeps the family’s praline-tonka-benzoin warmth and takes it somewhere darker. Pimento and smoked spices open it, incense and labdanum build a resinous heart, and tobacco, amber and praline carry the finish.

It is not a straight dupe of a designer fragrance, and we’re not going to pretend it is. Reviewers on Fragrantica most often compare it with Kilian Angels’ Share (which the Khamrah bottle nods to) and Armani Stronger With You Intensely, but there’s no settled consensus on either. It’s an original Lattafa composition and a Khamrah flanker — that’s the honest way to buy it.

Two things worth knowing up front: the pimento opening is punchy, and despite the name, the smoke is more of a soft incense haze than a bonfire. It’s still a sweet fragrance underneath — just the least sweet of the Khamrah bottles.

Top — Mandarin, Pimento, Smoked Spices. Pimento is allspice: peppery, clove-like and hot. It arrives first and it arrives loud, with smoked spices adding a dry, almost charred edge and mandarin giving a brief lift of brightness before it fades. Several reviewers describe this opening as intense. Give it twenty to thirty minutes; it settles.

Heart — Incense, Labdanum, Orange Blossom, Patchouli. This is the “smoke” of the name, and it’s more resin haze than campfire. Incense brings a dry, meditative smokiness, labdanum (listed by Lattafa as cistus) adds dark, leathery amber, patchouli gives it earthy weight, and a touch of orange blossom stops the heart from feeling one-dimensional.

Base — Tobacco, Amber, Tonka Bean, Benzoin, Praline. The dry-down is sweet pipe tobacco wrapped in amber, with tonka, benzoin and praline supplying the warmth the Khamrah line is known for. It’s noticeably less sugary than the original Khamrah, but it is still sweet — don’t expect a dry, ashy tobacco. It sits close to the skin later in the day and holds on fabric for a long time.

The name promises smoke, and reviewers consistently say the incense is subtler than that suggests — this is a warm, sweet tobacco-amber with a smoky haze, not a campfire in a bottle. Khamrah Dukhan packaging is the standard Lattafa presentation — a printed outer carton carrying the official holographic authentication seal, which is what you should check first when it lands. The 100ml atomiser gives a fine, even mist, and two or three sprays is genuinely all it wants.

The consensus is positive and fairly consistent. It’s rated around 4.2/5 on Fragrantica from more than 2,700 votes. Reviewers commonly report eight to twelve hours on skin, a strong scent bubble for the first three hours or so, and days of life on a coat or scarf. The praise clusters around the tobacco-amber dry-down, the performance, and the fact that it’s less cloying than the original Khamrah.

Three caveats come up repeatedly. First, the smoke is subtler than the name suggests — the incense is a haze rather than the headline. Second, the pimento opening is intense for the first half-hour, and a fresh bottle can smell a little disjointed until it has rested. Third, sweetness is divisive: some find it refined and dry for a Khamrah, others still find it too sweet — and it’s very easy to overspray.

• It leans masculine, but it’s unisex. Lattafa markets it with a masculine angle; anyone who enjoys sweet tobacco and resin will wear it well.
• Spray on clothing if the opening bothers you. The pimento start is softer on fabric, and fabric holds it for days.
• Give a fresh bottle a few weeks. Like most Lattafa releases, it’s commonly reported to smooth out after a short rest in a cool, dark cupboard.
