Lattafa Yara Elixir 100ml eau de parfum bottle

Lattafa Yara vs Yara Elixir: Which One Should You Buy?

The short answer

Choose Lattafa Yara (£17.99) if you want a soft, creamy daytime scent: orchid, heliotrope and tangerine over vanilla, musk and sandalwood. Choose Yara Elixir (£21.99) if you want something sweeter and warmer for evenings: strawberry and black currant over vanilla, caramel, amber and musk.

They share a name, not a scent. Elixir is not simply a stronger Yara. It is a different fragrance that suits autumn and winter, while the original is at its best in spring and summer. If you only buy one and want it for most days, start with the original.

Yara launched in 2020 and became one of Lattafa’s best-known women’s fragrances. Yara Elixir followed in 2025. Because they share a name and a similar bottle shape, many people assume the Elixir is the same scent made stronger. It is not, and buying the wrong one is the most common mix-up we see in this family.

This guide puts just these two side by side. If you are weighing up the whole range, including Yara Tous, our guide to which Lattafa Yara to buy covers every bottle.

How They Smell, Stage by Stage

Opening
Yara opens with soft tangerine, almond-like heliotrope and orchid. Bright but gentle. Yara Elixir opens with jammy strawberry and a toasted, marshmallowy edge, with black currant adding tartness.
Heart
Yara moves into a creamy gourmand accord with tropical fruit, the part many wearers describe as milkshake-like. Yara Elixir brings in jasmine and orange blossom, which read creamy rather than fresh under all that sweetness.
Dry-down
Yara settles on light vanilla, clean musk and a touch of sandalwood. Yara Elixir settles on vanilla and caramel warmed by amber, which is heavier and cosier.

Several Fragrantica reviewers of Yara Elixir describe it as richer and more mature than the original. One found the original too powdery and light and preferred the Elixir, while another still preferred the original. That split is the whole decision: it comes down to whether you want soft and powdery or sweet and warm.

Is Yara Elixir Stronger Than Yara?

Not in a simple way. Both are sold as Eau de Parfum, and Lattafa publishes no longevity figures for either. Fragrantica’s editorial review of the Elixir pair noted that the word Elixir is not an industry standard and that Yara Elixir lingers more than it projects.

Yara: wearer reports

Mixed. Some Fragrantica reviewers estimate around six to eight hours on skin; others say it faded early into a skin scent. Many say it clings to clothing for much longer.

Yara Elixir: wearer reports

Also mixed. Fragrantica reviews range from about three hours to around six, and a few say it lasts a long time with good sillage. Several say a new bottle improved after resting.

So the honest answer is that the Elixir smells fuller and sweeter, which can make it feel stronger, but neither bottle is a guaranteed all-day projector. If staying power is your main worry, our guide on how to make Lattafa Yara last longer covers the habits that help both.

Which One Should You Choose?

Choose Yara if you want one easy scent for most days, you like soft florals and clean musk, you will wear it mostly in spring and summer, or you work somewhere a sweet fragrance needs to stay polite.

Choose Yara Elixir if you love strawberry and caramel desserts, you want something cosy for autumn and winter evenings, or you found the original too powdery or too quiet.

Skip both if sweet gourmands have never suited you. Vanilla runs through the base of both.

Can You Own Both?

Yes, and they split the year neatly. Because they sit in different seasons, the original covers daytime and warmer months and the Elixir covers colder evenings, without the two feeling like duplicates on your shelf. Both together cost £39.98, with free tracked UK delivery.

If you are wondering what Yara is compared to, that question is answered on the Lattafa Yara 100ml EDP product page, and the Elixir’s comparison is on the Yara Elixir product page. Buying for a couple? Our Asad Elixir and Yara Elixir review covers the his-and-hers pairing.

Frequently asked questions

Tap a question to open the answer.

What is the difference between Lattafa Yara and Yara Elixir?
Yara is a soft, creamy floral gourmand with orchid, heliotrope and tangerine over vanilla, musk and sandalwood. Yara Elixir is a sweeter strawberry and caramel gourmand with black currant, jasmine and orange blossom over vanilla, caramel, amber and musk. They are different fragrances, not two strengths of one.
Is Yara Elixir stronger than the original Yara?
It smells fuller and sweeter, but both are Eau de Parfum and Lattafa publishes no longevity figures. Wearer reports for both vary widely on Fragrantica, so neither is a guaranteed all-day projector.
Which Yara is better for winter?
Yara Elixir. Its caramel, amber and vanilla base is warmer and heavier, which suits autumn and winter evenings. The original Yara is at its best in spring and summer.
Which is sweeter, Yara or Yara Elixir?
Yara Elixir. It is built around strawberry, caramel and vanilla. The original Yara is sweet too, but softer and more powdery, with orchid and heliotrope leading.
Should my first Yara be the original or the Elixir?
For most people, the original. It is easier to wear on more days of the year. Go straight to the Elixir if you know you love sweet dessert scents and mainly want it for colder evenings.
