Lattafa Guinea: A Powdery Iris Oriental at a £12.99 Price
Violet leaf and citrus on top, iris and nutmeg in the heart, sandalwood, labdanum and vanilla underneath. A soft, powdery, slightly spiced scent that you can wear every day.
A Straight Word on Sources First
For most Lattafa bottles we check notes against two places: Fragrantica and Lattafa’s own website. Guinea is on neither. We could not find a Guinea page on Fragrantica, and lattafa.com has no listing for it when we checked in October 2026. Because of that, we don’t give a launch year, a perfumer or any community performance figures. We would rather leave those out than make them up.
What we can give you is the note pyramid as printed on retail listings for the 100ml bottle. Those listings agree on almost everything. They differ on two notes: some say tangerine where others say mandarin, and some say ambroxan where others say amber. We show both below so you can see where the uncertainty is.
The Notes, Left to Right
Notes compiled from retail listings for the 100ml EDP. Where listings disagree, both names are shown.
So What Does It Actually Smell Like?
Going only on the pyramid, Guinea belongs to the powdery iris family: iris with violet, warmed by nutmeg and settled on sandalwood and vanilla. Fragrances built this way tend to come across as soft, a little cosmetic (in the lipstick-and-face-powder sense) and comforting rather than loud. The labdanum adds a slightly ambery, resinous depth, and the white musk keeps the finish clean.
We are not going to tell you how long it lasts or how far it projects. Nobody has published community data we trust, and we don’t make up performance figures.
Notes Guinea Shares With Other Bottles We Stock
This is a better way to judge Guinea than a “smells like” claim. Here are bottles that share its specific notes.
Raspberry, violet and musk. Choose this if the violet-and-musk side of Guinea is what appeals.
A vanilla-led bottle we list as a Vanilla Powder alternative. It costs more, and it suits buyers who want Guinea’s vanilla without the spice.
A close-wearing vanilla. Pick this if Guinea’s soft vanilla base is the part you want.
Two more bottles in the same out-of-stock batch share Guinea’s notes. Lattafa La African Drummer has the same ylang-ylang, jasmine, vanilla and musk, with coconut on top. Lattafa Kashan shares the pink pepper, sandalwood and musk, and leans woody instead of powdery. For the full range sorted by vanilla, see the Lattafa vanilla perfumes collection, or start from our Lattafa perfumes by note hub.
The Value Case
Wearing It
- Who it suits: anyone who likes powdery, soft florals with a little spice. Retail listings differ on gender (some list it as unisex, some for men), and the iris-vanilla structure is easy for anyone to wear.
- When: iris-and-vanilla scents tend to suit cooler months and indoor settings best. The citrus and violet-leaf opening keeps it from feeling heavy in the daytime.
- How much: start with two sprays and adjust. Without reliable performance data, your own skin is the best guide.
