Ameer Al Arab Spicy Woody: Herbs, Cardamom and Saffron Over Sandalwood

Jasmine and myrrh · basil, cardamom, lavender, pepper · patchouli, saffron, sandalwood. That’s the pyramid Lattafa publishes for Ameer Al Arab, and it’s the one this listing is built on.

Ameer Al Arab Spicy Woody is the herbal, spice-led take on Asdaaf’s “Prince of the Arabs” (the meaning of Ameer Al Arab). Asdaaf is one of Lattafa’s houses, and Lattafa’s own site calls this a “spicy, woody scent” for men, “crafted in the heart of the Emirates”. You won’t find a sugary vanilla base or fruit up top. It’s green basil and lavender, warm cardamom and pepper, and saffron over sandalwood to finish.

Two Ameer Al Arab Listings: Which One Is This?

We sell two bottles under the Ameer Al Arab name, so here’s the difference before you order:

  • This page: Ameer Al Arab Spicy Woody. Herbal and spicy, with myrrh, cardamom, basil, saffron and sandalwood. The notes match Lattafa’s official Ameer Al Arab listing.
  • Asdaaf Ameer Al Arab 100ml (Woody Oud). Our separate listing for a smoother, citrus-topped woody oud with bergamot, jasmine and white musk. Choose that one if you want oud rather than herbs and spice.

Rule of thumb: herbs and saffron → this page. Citrus and soft oud → the Woody Oud page.

What Kind of Scent Is It?

Main accords, in Fragrantica’s order
1. Aromatic
2. Fresh spicy
3. White floral
4. Warm spicy
5. Green
6. Lavender
7. Herbal

Shown in the order Fragrantica lists them. Bar length signals rank only.

“Aromatic” tops Fragrantica’s list, which is perfumery shorthand for herb-led scents built on notes like lavender and basil. Fresh and warm spice come next, with jasmine’s white floral between them. In plain terms, it’s a herbal-spicy scent first and a woody one second. It reads more like a spice cupboard and a sprig of basil than a smoky oud.

Performance: What Reviewers Say

Fragrantica gives Ameer Al Arab an average of about 4 out of 5 from around 185 votes, but with only a small number of written reviews, the performance picture is thin. The reviews that mention it describe moderate projection, and some report only a few hours of wear. We’d rather tell you that than promise a beast. If you want your scent to last all day, re-spray at lunchtime or spray your clothes.

Prince and Princess: Pairing It Up

Asdaaf built Ameer Al Arab, the Prince, alongside Ameerat Al Arab, the Princess. If you’re buying for two, or looking for a his-and-hers set, the feminine line has two in-stock options with very different moods:

Ameerat Al Arab Prive Rose
MoodJammy strawberry-rose over sandalwood and tonka
Pairs becauseIts sandalwood base echoes this one’s sandalwood finish
Ameerat Al Arab Sugar Crown
MoodThe sweet, gourmand Princess
Pairs becauseA sweet contrast to this scent’s herbal dryness

When to Reach For It

  • Autumn and winter, cool rainy days. The Fragrantica reviews that mention season point to colder weather, though the green basil and lavender keep it usable by day.
  • Smart-casual and traditional dress. The saffron, myrrh and sandalwood give it a classic Arabian-perfumery feel that suits occasions and family gatherings.
  • Men first, but not only. Lattafa markets it for men, while Fragrantica lists it as unisex. If you like lavender and spice, it works either way.
