Lattafa Al Qiam Gold: Raspberry, Saffron and Smoked Leather
A dark, jammy evening scent: red fruit and saffron on top, leather and patchouli in the middle, oud, benzoin and guaiac wood underneath. 100ml Eau de Parfum, £22.99.
Raspberry and saffron is one of the most recognisable pairings in modern Middle Eastern perfumery: sweet-tart fruit against a dry, golden spice. Lattafa Al Qiam Gold takes that pairing and drops it onto leather and oud, so it starts jammy and ends smoky. Fragrantica voters rank leather as its single strongest accord, ahead of warm spice and oud, which tells you this is a darker scent than the fruit up top suggests.
Fragrantica and Lattafa both date it to 2022 and present it for women and men; no perfumer is credited. Retail listings and Fragrantica reviewers often place it in Lattafa’s higher-end Pride range, though Lattafa’s own product page doesn’t say which line it belongs to.
The Louis Vuitton Ombre Nomade question
Read enough Al Qiam Gold reviews and Ombre Nomade comes up again and again, with several Fragrantica reviewers calling it a close clone. Lattafa doesn’t make that claim, so here’s what the published note lists actually share, and where they part ways:
Four shared materials, and they are the four that define the first impression: raspberry, saffron, oud and benzoin. That’s why the two feel related on a blotter. Beyond them, Ombre Nomade (2018, by Jacques Cavallier Belletrud) goes towards rose, incense and birch smoke, while Al Qiam Gold goes towards leather, patchouli and dry woods. If you want the Louis Vuitton exactly, buy the Louis Vuitton. If you love the raspberry-saffron-oud idea and want it with more leather, this is the one to try.
How it unfolds
The pyramid above is identical on Lattafa’s official page and on Fragrantica: ten notes, two in the top, two in the heart and five in the base. A base that heavy is typical of scents built for the evening.
